Ok I admit it, I love Valentine's Day. Call me a sucker or whatever you want, I just love, love, love it. I must admit that dating Ben makes it just that much sweeter. After years of dating douchebags who put zero thought into anything for me (birthdays, anniversaries, etc), Ben is a breath of fresh, thoughtful air. I found out that he plans for Valentine's Day were defunct due to the fact that his work asked him to go to Santa Cruz for an inspection. He was going to deliver flowers to my work and surprise me with lunch.

He did beat me home by a bit, and I walked into our house dimly lit with all of our candles, and my handsome man cooking us a special dinner. He made us crab cakes, clam chowder, asparagus, and delicious biscuits. While waiting for everything to finish, we exchanged gifts. I mentioned to him that I thought we should buy each other things we can use for / in Hawaii. I got him a new pair of flip flops. He literally wears his all the time and has had them forever. It was time! I also got him a silly bear that says "little devil" because when we were first dating, he always called himself "the devil" as a joke. Finally, I made him a set of "52 things I love about you" which was an idea I saw on Pinterest. I found a deck of cards that I knew he'd love, and I made 52 labels noting 52 things I love about him. (Funny side note: after he looked through the cards, he asked if I bought another deck for us to use and I got to answer "yes!" We're too much alike sometimes, I just KNEW he'd love these cards). He loved it all, of course. He got me a dozen beautiful roses and a few things to use in Hawaii.

I must mention that I couldn't help but notice how silly Facebook was on February 14th. Either girls were gushing over the wonderful things their thoughtful guys got them, or girls were making bitter posts about how they don't want to see everyone's gifts. Then there were the single guys (even some not single) who were going on and on about how they won't support a "Hallmark holiday". I found them all silly.

Like I said, I'd rather have a homemade dinner cooked by the most handsome man around than go out to a generic restaurant with everyone else any day (yes, even on V-Day)!

Fifty Two Things I Love About BEN!

One of the fifty two.
