Houston, We Have a Home!

After three weeks of looking at total dumps for ridiculous amounts of money for rent, we found a home! Every rental that Ben went and looked at, either the neighborhood was total crap, or once inside the house was total crap. Maybe we're picky, but we're not used to living in a crappy place. We take pride in our home and take care of our things.

On top of the homes being dumps, NOBODY wants to rent to someone with a dog over 20 lbs that is a German Shepherd. I contemplated taking Blitz to the walk-thrus because anyone who meets him would love him. He's such a nice dog.

Thankfully we came across a home VERY close to our offices in a VERY NICE neighborhood, for a price we can afford who couldn't care less about our dog and cats. They're not even requiring an extra pet deposit.

Ben viewed it yesterday. The current tenants are in so good with the Owner that they didn't mind him going in while they're still there. They love working with the landlord, the home is all remodeled, the neighborhood is wonderful, and the only reason they're leaving is because they bought a home. All positives.

They aren't moving out until for a couple of weeks, but there will be a Contractor there doing "touch ups" and then a cleaning crew and then we move in October 6th.

We will be going from two rooms to four, from a living room to a living room and family room, from one bathroom to three, from a one car garage to two, and from tile to granite. I could not be more thrilled over all of this! It came down to us and some other interested parties, but he selected us because we had the best credit scores. I am so proud of myself for always being responsible with my credit and never paying a bill late. It really pays off in situations like this!

So I start my new job Monday, and we'll be living at his friend's house for two weeks until the house is ready. It will be a tight fit but we're so lucky to have the option. One of Ben's friends is looking for extra work so he'll live at our house in Fresno until we're all moved out and find a renter. Obviously vacant houses around here become targets for theft, so this is a huge plus. And, we have to leave our pets in Fresno until we move into our new home, so he'll be here to take care of everyone. He also offered to box up our things while he's here. I've been working all week on it but you don't realize how much stuff you have until you start boxing. He saw me stressed today and offered to continue boxing once I'm gone. We're so lucky to have so many great people in our lives, and we're so lucky for all of the great opportunities that have presented themselves to us.

Maybe it's luck, or maybe it's because we're two hardworking, dedicated young adults who have all of this coming to us. I'm over the moon today.

I'm sure I'll be on hiatus for a few weeks, but I look forward to sharing our new adventure in San Jose with you.
