Hawaii!

Those who know me, know that I've had a long, complicated college career. I shall blame it on indecisiveness. Once I got down to my last couple of semesters, I started thinking of ideas to celebrate once I actually finish. I wanted to throw a big party where I'd give a speech in tears thanking those who have helped and supported me. I wanted to take a week off of work and just do NOTHING during that time, not even changing out of pajamas. I wanted to take a trip somewhere. And then it hit me, I want to go somewhere I've never been before. I want to go to HAWAII! Honestly though, I figured there was no way we could afford something so big, so I shelved it and tried to come up with a Plan B.

But things have been so good for us. I looked into flight prices "just for fun" and found that they're REALLY reasonable. Between a cheap flight and a free place to stay, we'd visit Honolulu. You see, my former boss whom I have kept in touch with all of these years owns a condo on the beach. He has mentioned to me numerous times that we're welcome to stay there, all we need is a flight. The offer still stood, so we began planning. It was at this point that I started to look into spending time in Maui as well. I've always wanted to go to Maui, specifically, in Hawaii. We found a great package through Costco, and saw that the additional flight doesn't add much on to our price.

After dragging our feet a little, we were saddened to see the flights go up around $200 each in price in a matter of days. I got stubborn, feeling like it's stupid to pay more for the same flight. You see, I'm not a flyer. I fear flying big time. Let's just say I had a bad experience once. It's a big deal that I was even considering flying to Hawaii in the first place. I'm so bad, I even considered the 14 day cruise. Ew.

Then something awesome happened. Ben checked flights on Monday and found that they were back down. The specific flights we were eyeing had a mere two seats left. Fate? I said, "let's do this" and he booked it. So it's official! Two days after I graduate college, we're going to Hawaii for 10 days. We will spend our first 5 in Honolulu and the remainder in Maui. This will be the most significant vacation / traveling I have done as an adult. I'm nervous, but it pales in comparison to the amount of happiness and excitement I am experiencing.

I guess this means I need to start tanning (or I may spontaneously combust), and shopping! Friends, if you have been to either Honolulu or Maui, please share your "must sees" with me!
