Maui

After five days of being completely spoiled, we island hopped to Maui. A big thanks to Ben for booking a 6AM flight! Lucky for both of us, I was much more calm flying and didn't shed even one tear! After picking up the rental car, we headed straight for the Road to Hana. I had read online about people having troubles with getting car sick on the winding road, so I made sure to take Dramamine. For the first bit, I was fine. Then it caught up to me. Fortunately, Dramamine makes me real sleepy so I ended up falling asleep for part of it. Once we got to Hana Bay, we had a little lunch and headed back. I'd be lying if I said I didn't struggle the whole way back with nausea. It was gorgeous, regardless.

Like my O'ahu post, I'll share some of my favorite parts of the trip, as we all know how boring people's vacation posts can get :)

  • Maui weather was quite different from O'ahu. It was generally really windy, but never cold. The temperature was always just right. It rained every day, but not rain like in California, it was more of a mist. And it felt GREAT if you were laying out. There were rainbows everywhere. Bright, brilliant, gorgeous rainbows.
  • Per Steve and Sherrie's suggestion, took the Trilogy (catamaran) to Lanai'i (another Hawaiian island). What a wonderful excursion! The staff were all so friendly, the island infinitely differently from O'ahu and Maui, and the food was great. The ride back was rough, and I'm terrified of water, but I didn't get sick :) The best part was coming upon a pod of an estimated 400 spinner dolphins. They were swimming and jumping everywhere. It was an amazing experience!
  • The sunset dinner cruise through our Costco vacation package was wonderful. It was a smaller catamaran that sailed around the island and served great food, drinks, and music. Another friendly staff, and cool people in general to hang out with. This time, I was at the front of the boat, outside, enjoying the waves and wind in my face!
  • The food! OMG the food. From DELICIOUS Star Noodle to eating at our hotel (since we had credits), there was no shortage of delicious food. Our breakfast buffet was SO amazing, we hardly ever even ate lunch. Costco Travel is SO the way to go!
And now, pictures!

7AM, no makeup, look at the birds!
Can you see the fear in my eyes?
