Whirlwind

I cannot believe the pace at which life is seemingly passing by. When I found out I had a week off from work between Christmas and New Years, I was optimistic about all of the lounging around I'd be doing. I would paint my nails, organize the unorganized parts of our house, read books, and take our dog for walks daily.

I worked a 40 hour week last week. It was wonderful to catch up on things there, and I even had time to organize and clean my desk. Ben bought a brand new truck . We spent a few nights after work looking at trucks and talking with the dealer. It's beautiful, and I'm so proud of his accomplishment. I look forward to our many future trips in it, especially taking Blitz to the beach next month for a last minute getaway before school starts.

Once my work week was over Friday afternoon, Ben was lucky enough that his was, too. His dad was visiting so we had lunch with him and his sister. Saturday evening we had Ben's mom and sister over for dinner. We had a DELICIOUS prime rib. It was seriously incredible. Sunday morning we went to my brother's house for breakfast and to watch his girls open presents. In the evening, we went to my parent's house for dinner. It has been literally go-go-go since I finally had a little "freedom."

I have managed to find the time to read three books since school has been out:

Summer and the City by Candace Bushnell

It's the book that comes after The Carrie Diaries. This series by Bushnell tells the story of Carrie Bradshaw's life in high school and now college. If you're a Sex and the city fan, you will LOVE this series. They are fun, easy reads. I love reading the tales of how the ladies all became friends.
A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard
Reading this book, it was incredibly hard to keep in mind that it all actually happened. Jaycee is a very positive, strong, inspirational woman.

A Dog's Purpose by Bruce Cameron

This book in written through the perspective of a dog. I don't think I have ever cried so much while reading a book. They weren't sad tears, they were happy tears. I highly recommend this to everyone. Great, great story.

Today and the next two days I will spend cleaning and getting things in order around here. Friday, we leave for Bodega Bay for a New Years trip with 17 of Ben's friends. Should be a pretty crazy weekend. I hope to have some good pictures together to share with you all next week.
