Blitzkrieg: A Perfect Puppy Name

So on Saturday, I went to take out the trash when I noticed blood smeared and spattered in the cove where the backdoor is, which just so happens to be the place Blitz normally hangs out. My stomach dropped, and my initial fear was that instead of killing a squirrel (which he's already done), what if he got Ben's cat JJ? I call Ben out, and we go looking around the yard to see what Blitz got a hold of. Finally, Ben spots JJ behind our shed so I hold Blitz by his collar to ensure he doesn't jump her (which he often does as play). While Ben coaxes JJ out, I look down at Blitz and notice a 1/2" bloody slit in his ear. JJ is fine, but we have NO idea how he injured his ear. There were no blood spots anywhere else, like around the roses or anywhere. We (well, I) was freaking out about it and we tried calling the vet. Already closed. Then we called the ER. they said as long as we could stop the bleeding, it's no big deal. They mentioned that we could bring him in to sew it together because if we don't, it'll stay separated. Not wanting ANOTHER ER bill, we decide to wait until Monday to see if the vet will do it.

Poor little guy
So Monday the vet wanted to do surgery to sew it up. They had to put him under, which freaked me out but how else were they going to do it? Anyway, I dealt with taking him in and such as Ben was out of town. The worst mistake made was declining the E-Collar (cone). I figured we wouldn't really need one. I mean, he wasn't messing with it at all before so why would he now? I get him home and start on my homework and he immediately starts trying to scratch. I get up, and with him in tow I go to three pet stores before finally finding one at Petsmart. I wrap it around his neck at the store and it fits so I get it. One hour later we're finally home. I can finally start on homework! I put his e-collar on and discover something quite upsetting - his ears are too long and he can STILL reach them. At this point, the vet is closed and I am on the verge of an anxiety attack. I can't have him scratch those stitches out! I call the ER and ask them if they'll sell me one, and they say to bring him in.

The nicest girl ever helped me, and we had to size him with the biggest one they had because his ears are so damn big LOL. Finally, I made it home and avoided a panic attack. I hardly even had time for homework, but I did have this guy:

How can you be mad at this guy?
