My goodness, how time does fly. I have been at my new job and life in San Jose for over six months already. Isn't that insane? Things are going really well and we finally began to explore a little. A few weekends ago we decided to check out
The Mystery Spot in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The day was gorgeous, and we drove the whole way with the sunroof open, enjoying the smell of the redwoods. I hate to admit, that I'm that asshole who does things like call out flaws in movies or commercials. Like in Kill Bill, side by side shotguns don't shoot both barrels at the same time, unless there are two triggers, which there were not. I digress. Anyway, I had to figure this "gravational anomaly" out. To me, it seemed obvious. The "cabin" is built on a real hard angle. It's made obvious by all the supports on the low side and the "door" frames being framed on angles. It does throw you off when you're inside it. I mean, who is used to standing in a "house" that is angled? It gives you vertigo.

Anyway, it was worth the drive, because the drive was amazing. After that, we considered going to Santa Cruz, but we didn't want to go to the Boardwalk and didn't know what else to do. We ended up in Capitola, which was just fabulous! We found a beachside restaurant who had a table outside, and had a nice little lunch and libations while watching the beach activities. It almost reminded me of Hawaii. I can't exactly explain why, but maybe it was the layout of the place and the way the beach was - only the water was not as blue. We walked around the little shops, and added a few pieces to our, now, ecclectic decor. On the way back to San Jose, we blasted Sublime's 40oz to Freedom album and sang all the songs. It was just one of THOSE days. I'll probably never forget it, even though nothing significant happened.
